According to the NP ISO 14025 standard, the DAPHabitat System acknowledges that those who are developing a Type III Environmental Declaration cannot accurately determine its audience. It is essential for the market that EPDs represent a trustworthy communication tool. For this reason, the third-party verification is a decisive step in the EPD programme, in order to accurately confirm that the information included in the EPD is valid and scientifically reliable. According to the ISO 14025, the third-party verification is mandatory when the Type III environmental declarations are used in business-to-consumer communication.
The verification procedure involves verifiers that belong to a pool of verifiers managed by certification bodies, entities accredited by the DAPHabitat System operator by their competences.
